Africa Climate Week 2022 – Side event
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA) and the United Nations Office Against Drugs and Crime (UNODC) are organizing a side event during Africa Climate Week 2022, on the theme “Roles of the Congo Basin rainforest, biosphere reserves, and World Heritage Sites in climate change resilience and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Central Africa.” The event will take place on 1 September, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. (WAT), in a hybrid format: in the Tent 2 “Le Vent” at the Radisson Blu hotel in Libreville, Gabon, and online https://bit.ly/3Q7U4SL.
United Nations and AfDB experts will present the global importance of the vast and rich natural resources of Central Africa in the fight against climate change and for the implementation of the SDGs. Discussions will also focus on the link between climate change, environmental degradation, of the Congo Basin rainforest, and peace and security in Central Africa. They will also allow to highlight the need for strengthened partnerships for climate finance, supporting actions in Central Africa that are essential for human security at national, regional security and global levels.
