Secretary-General appoints Mr. Mohamed El-Amine Souef of the Comoros as Special Representative for Central Africa and Head of the United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA)

The United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA) advances political dialogue, conflict prevention, and mediation efforts, working closely with the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), national authorities, and local partners. It also responds to cross-border threats, including armed groups, maritime insecurity in the Gulf of Guinea, and climate-related security risks, while fostering long-term stability and regional cooperation in Central Africa.
